High-speed steel is characterized by high wear resistance, high hardness, tempering resistance and heat resistance of up to 600\u00b0C. Titanium nitride coatings further enhance these properties and improve corrosion resistance. HSS cutting bodies allow a high cutting speed and have large chip spaces. They are insensitive to shocks and vibrations, enabling smaller wedge angles and a low surface roughness.
