CBN - Cutters
Cubic crystalline boron nitride is the second hardest known material after diamond and is therefore ideal for cutting tools that wear much more slowly than other cutting materials. This enables us to achieve very high shape and dimensional accuracy and to machine hard materials such as hardened steel with process reliability.
We can manufacture CBN Cutters as a solid version (full CBN) or as a tipped version with different numbers of cutting corners. We manufacture these Cutters according to your requirements and wishes and advise you to find the best solution for our customers.

Thanks to its good thermal conductivity, the high grinding temperatures do not attack the CBN and therefore the heat generated during machining does not pose a problem. Our CBN-tipped Cutters are brazed in our in-house high-vacuum furnace. The bond created by vacuum brazing has a particularly high strength and heat dissipation, significantly higher than with atmospheric inductive brazing. The laser process also offers the possibility of inserting a previously defined chip breaker contour into the CBN cutting edge. Depending on the application, we recommend an additional coating to extend the service life or to better detect wear. Thanks to our cooperation with renowned coaters, we can offer you all services from a single source. We are happy to advise our customers on the right CBN grades and coating selection. The insertion of clamping recesses (for holding fixtures with clamping claws) using lasers is also part of our standard practice.
